What do you do when you have best laid plans and they have to change?
This week’s vlog is a little shorter – because I’m in the middle of some unexpected things…
My grandfather went from being sick to no longer being with us at all on Thursday evening. It was unexpected, we thought he’d have more time than that… Needless to say, it was a sad surprise.
Then, all day Friday, came the swirl. Do I fly to Canada? Do I carry on and support from afar? What’s the right decision when both staying and going had clear advantages? I just launched my business this year, so I have to be considerate of money and the relationship with my clients and prospects — but I knew I could help my family if I was there, and that’s what I really wanted to do.
After swirling for hours, on Saturday I decided to jump on a plane to head back to Canada to help my family out. It was a tough decision because I have a lot going on right now as I make things happen for my family and I… But life has a way of throwing unexpected things into our path, and I believe we have a choice about how we interact with those unexpected things.
Whether it’s a big family event, or getting an unexpected email from a boss or client… The unexpected can sometimes seem like it’s what’s getting in the way of you Making Things Happen. But the truth is, you can expect the unexpected will occur, and what matters, is you allowing for that and responding accordingly.
Xoxo
