Getting Time Back with Attractive Content: A Personal Journey

By Amanda Kaufman

Once upon a time, in the earlier days of my coaching career, I would stare at the blinking cursor on my computer screen, willing it to translate my thoughts into engaging content. Every content creator, influencer, or business owner knows this feeling all too well. The desire to share, connect, and engage, all the while navigating the challenges of self-doubt, time constraints, and the never-ending chase for perfection.

Seven years have swept by since those tentative days, and my approach to content has metamorphosed. Today, I wish to pull back the curtain and reveal the lessons I've absorbed, the methods I've refined, and the pivotal ideas that have been instrumental in transforming my content creation journey.

1. Embracing Imperfection

In the beginning, I believed my content had to be flawless. Every article, every video, every podcast episode underwent meticulous scrutiny. Over time, however, I recognized that it wasn't perfection my audience sought, but authenticity. Real, raw moments resonated far more than any polished, 'perfect' content piece ever did.

2. Consistency Over Quantity

Spending hours every day crafting content can lead to burnout. Instead, I've found magic in rhythmic consistency. It’s not about how much you produce but how consistently you show up. Whether it's once a week or thrice a month, when your audience knows when to expect your content, they're more likely to engage with it.

3. Delegation is Liberation

I used to juggle everything - from brainstorming and creating to editing and publishing. However, the turning point came when I began delegating tasks that were not in my zone of genius. This not only freed up my time but also enhanced the quality of my output.

4. Repurpose, Don't Reinvent

One of the most significant time-savers in content creation is learning to repurpose effectively. A single blog post can be transformed into snippets for social media, a video for YouTube, or even a podcast episode. By maximizing one piece of content across various platforms, I found a way to expand reach without depleting my energy reserves.

5. Engage, Don't Just Broadcast

Attractive content isn’t just about putting information out there; it's about creating a two-way conversation. By making it a point to engage with my audience – responding to comments, conducting polls, and actively seeking feedback – I've not only deepened my connection but also gained insights into what my audience truly desires.

6. Passion Over Algorithm

Lastly, while it's essential to understand platform algorithms, creating content should primarily stem from passion. When you create from a space of genuine enthusiasm, it's palpable, and your audience can feel it. Moreover, passion-driven content tends to be evergreen, offering value for a long time.

Today, when I look back, it's evident that getting time back was never about working harder but about working smarter. And while the landscape of content creation continues to evolve, these principles remain my north star, guiding me towards meaningful, attractive content that resonates.

To those of you at the cusp of your content creation journey or those deep within it, remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Cherish the lessons, celebrate the milestones, and most importantly, enjoy the journey.

Here's to crafting content that captivates! 🌸
